There are some things we do that really turnout to be special and worth building on. Taking our kids shopping for school clothes is one of those things- Not just shopping, but letting the kids choose and buy whatever they want. It’s a great day for everyone involved- Rotary gets a chance to get closer to the vets and families, big-time savings on back to school clothes, and Kohl’s get a chance to do something special for the children of our combat wounded veterans.
Special thanks to Joanna Farmer from the SBSR Club –this program is her brain-child and huge thanks to Kohl’s as well. Kohl’s provided the entire store to us for an hour prior to opening to the public, gave a hefty discount, and waived taxes. All in all, with discount and waivers by Kohl’s, it worked out to about $200.00 per child.
We talk a lot about our friends in the community and how important partnering with them is- Saturday August 11th is a great example that.
Huge thanks to the Rotarians of the South Bay Sunrise Club and Kohl’s Department store and their wonderful staff – Great job.
