“Trick” or Treat all my Fellow Warriors,
My Name is Janet I joined the United States ARMY. After Sept 11th I went to Basic Training to Ft Jackson and qualified to 91Golf… I joined because my Dad was a Vietnam Veteran and I grew up with an American Flag in my front yard. I thank all of you for your service and sacrifice.
I served for 7 years mainly stationed at FT HOOD, TX in 418TH Transportation Co. in 13 COSCOM. I was deployed to Iraq Feb 2003, where I was stationed in Dogwood. My unit Hauled Bulk Fuel and there was no need for a cook at the time so I became a Truck Driver, Delivering Fuel throughout Iraq under 3rd I.D. I returned to Iraq in Nov of 2004 stationed in Anaconda. For another 10 months when I returned home the second time I struggled with P.T.S.D and it was reflected in my Job and my Social Life and I was Medical Discharged on Dec 31, 2008.
After that I had no idea where to go or how to survive on my own I was hooked up with the V.A L.B. I was sent to a Female P.T.S.D Therapy clinic; I had bad times and bad days. I had nowhere to live, but I stood in friend’s car and had lost the ability to even care that I was no longer a functioning member of society. My V.A counselor called up Mike Talleda up who immediately came and had lunch with me.
The next 6 months of my life completely changed because of this foundation. I was also lucky and got onto Hud Vash where this Foundation has helped me with the Deposit to my new Apartment I’m really so great full. This foundation has taught me that some out there care for me. At my New Home the Foundation bought me a Fridge, Couch, Love Seat, Dresser and TV. Foundation came with Wounded Warriors’ to my new home and carried everything to my house. I’m so thankful for all the things that the Foundation has done for me. I’m grateful for the rides you’ve taken me out of the box hole, now I’m out the box and I feel like Welcome and Wanted…”
