Rocio Alvarado – Executive Assistant

Rocio Alvarado is such a vital part of the Wounded Heroes of America family! Her story is a great reminder that you don't have to wear a uniform to serve your country—there are so many ways to give back. Rocio is one of those amazing people who stepped up as a caregiver for one of our combat-wounded heroes: her late husband, USMC Sgt. Brian Alvarado.

The two of them shared quite a journey together. Rocio stood right by Brian’s side through his long, tough battle with cancer. They faced every hurdle with so much heart until Brian passed away on January 22, 2024. Even when things were at their hardest, Rocio and Brian were always looking out for others! They spent almost every weekend volunteering with different groups, helping out our homeless veterans and anyone else who needed a hand.

Now, Rocio is our Executive Assistant, and she’s kept that spirit of service going strong. Since she’s walked in those shoes herself—both as a caregiver and a military widow—she brings a kind of empathy and insight you just can't teach. Having her on the team adds so much heart to what we do, helping us really connect with and support the families in our community. We're so lucky to have her keeping Brian’s legacy of compassion alive!
