I know Santa simply gets on his sleigh and away he goes, however, we have to do things a little different. Today, I had the pleasure to visit Catholic Daughters of the Americas #Court 519 at St Mary’s of the Assumption in Whittier, Ca. First, I want to say what a great bunch of ladies they are and how gracious and welcoming they were to me. I went to visit them just to make a pitch about our Christmas program at the invitation of Olivia Hamud who I met while doing a Combined Federal Campaign (CFC) presentation and left there making a whole bunch of new friends. These ladies opened up their hearts and their pocket books to help our combat wounded Veterans and our Christmas program, Operation: Santa Claus. They completely embraced me and the work WHOA is doing in the Veteran community and showed their generosity by making a donation on the spot- contributing $500.00 from the organization Catholic Daughters of the Americas and another $300.00 from the ladies present at the meeting.
Thanks to such amazing individuals and their generous support, we are able to bring Christmas to many homes of wounded Vets. They are certainly terrific ladies – I have a feeling that this will be the beginning of a beautiful friendship.
