Before the day at the ranch, we looked at the weather report every day, and every day the forecast improved. When February 13 arrived, the weather could not have been better; it was a gorgeous day to be outside. El Niño was nowhere to be found.
It was our second annual trip to Horse of the Sun Ranch, and our experience further convinced us that there are people in our community who love our veterans. Such individuals and the organizations they create have the resources and desire to help, and when they get the opportunity, they bend over backwards to show their appreciation for the sacrifices made and the service provided by our vets, especially our combat wounded.
Jerry Hall, Martha Baker, and all of the volunteers from Horse of the Sun Ranch made it possible for more than ninety of our vets and their family members to spend the day outside shooting arrows, riding horses, throwing horseshoes, spinning ropes, hiking, and simply hanging out with great people who really care.
We strongly believe in collaborating with others to improve the lives of our vets. The resources we need are in the community. Finding friends is the key, and we’ve been blessed to have made friends with wonderful people like Jerry, Martha, and everyone connected with Horse of the Sun Ranch.
Thank you all for a great day. We look forward to returning soon.
